The material was developed primarily for deaf students who use Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), especially those who are learning written Portuguese as a second language (L2) and require linguistic accessibility to engage with grammatical analysis.
It may also benefit students with Intellectual Disabilities associated with deafness, ASD associated with deafness, ADHD, and Down Syndrome with or without associated deafness, particularly when they need short sentences, visual organization, objective response formats, and less information presented at one time.

The main feature of this activity is that Libras effectively serves as the language through which students access the grammatical content. Support is not limited to the instructions: the sentences, answer choices, and concepts being taught are also accompanied by representations in Libras.
On the first activity page, for example, students encounter the sentence “Marcos opened the window” accompanied by its representation in Libras and a specific visual card for OPEN THE WINDOW. From there, they identify which written word represents the action. This approach establishes the connection signed action → written verb → sentence in Portuguese → grammatical function.
At this stage, the sentence “The students organized the classroom” is also used to explore the predicate and is accompanied by the sign for STUDENT. This allows students to remain in contact with Portuguese vocabulary while using Libras as support to understand the activity.
On the second page, the level of difficulty gradually increases. Students compare “Ana is worried” and “Ana studied for the test” to differentiate between a linking verb and a meaningful verb. They then analyze “Carlos bought a book”, completing the SUBJECT, PREDICATE, and VERB fields separately, with visual support from the sign for BUY.
On the final page, students differentiate between verbal predicates and nominal predicates. The material provides an objective reference: a verbal predicate primarily indicates an ACTION, while a nominal predicate primarily indicates a CHARACTERISTIC or STATE. Students then use this reference to classify different sentences.
