The activity was designed so that students first develop an understanding of the physical meaning of the different forms of energy before relying on calculations and formulas.

In the first question, a person running serves as a visual reference for the concept of motion. Students identify which type of energy is associated with this situation, establishing the relationship MOTION → KINETIC ENERGY.

Next, students use a word bank containing KINETIC – GRAVITATIONAL POTENTIAL to complete the idea that Mechanical Energy corresponds to the sum of these two forms of energy. The representation Em = Ec + Ep also appears alongside the activity, gradually introducing students to the symbolic language used in Physics.

In the third question, an image of a skateboarder at the highest part of a ramp directs attention to the skateboarder’s height above the ground. Based on this visual situation, students establish the relationship HEIGHT → GRAVITATIONAL POTENTIAL ENERGY.

After these relationships have been developed separately, the fourth question asks students to match the three forms of energy with their respective characteristics: Kinetic Energy → motion; Gravitational Potential Energy → height; Mechanical Energy → sum of kinetic and potential energy.
