The activity begins with a fundamental concept: before the arrival of the Portuguese, Brazilian territory was not inhabited by a single Indigenous people. In the first question, the images depict different community activities, and the student identifies that many different peoples, with distinct cultures and languages, lived in the territory.

The sequence then progresses to more specific aspects. The student recognizes Tupi and Macro-Jê as two major linguistic branches studied in the activity and identifies the pajé through characteristics related to rituals, knowledge of plants, and connections with the spiritual world.

The material also addresses topics that require greater historical care. In question 5, for example, anthropophagy among some Tupi peoples is presented within its ritual and warfare context, relating it to the symbolic incorporation of the enemy’s courage and virtues rather than presenting it simply as a dietary practice.
