The activity was designed with a progressive sequence, beginning with the Earth’s interior before moving on to the atmosphere. This allows the content to be explored in smaller steps and helps students establish connections between concepts before new information is introduced.

In the first questions, students begin with a contextualized situation: a scientist wants to study the Earth’s deep internal regions. From this scenario, students identify earthquakes and volcanoes as sources of information and then complete the sequence CRUST → MANTLE → CORE.

The following activities explore the Earth’s internal structure in greater depth. Students use clues to recognize the crust, distinguish between oceanic crust and continental crust, and identify the core as the region where temperatures can reach approximately 6,000°C.

The second part uses concrete situations to explore the atmosphere. A spacecraft leaving the Earth’s surface introduces the idea of passing through different atmospheric layers. Clouds and a rain forecast are then used to explore the troposphere, while an image showing two points at different altitudes allows students to analyze changes in atmospheric pressure.

The final questions connect familiar phenomena to their corresponding atmospheric layers. Students identify the stratosphere as the layer where the ozone layer is located and the mesosphere as the layer where small meteors primarily burn up as they enter the atmosphere.
