The activity begins with simpler identification and sequencing tasks. Gradually, students progress to naming different organs, recognizing their location in the body, and finally assembling the digestive system using individual organ pieces.

Target audience:

Students in Elementary and Middle School and, depending on curricular adaptation needs, also High School, especially those who require greater visual and hands-on support to understand Science and Biology content.

Content covered:

The activity covers organs and structures of the digestive system; mouth; esophagus; stomach; liver; pancreas; small intestine; large intestine; the path food travels through the digestive system; saliva; bile; gastric juice; organ location; and the organization of the digestive system within the human body.

Important for the teacher:

This activity does not teach the Digestive System through theoretical questions alone. Students follow a sequence involving observe → identify → complete → name → locate → cut and assemble.

On the first activity page, for example, students visually identify the stomach among four structures and complete part of the path traveled by food: MOUTH → ESOPHAGUS → STOMACH. They then match MOUTH → SALIVA, LIVER → BILE, and STOMACH → GASTRIC JUICE.

In the following activities, the level of difficulty gradually increases. Students use a word bank to name individual organs and later identify those same structures within a complete representation of the human body.

The final activity adds a hands-on component: individual pieces representing the liver, stomach, pancreas, intestines, and other structures are provided for cutting. Students observe each piece and position it correctly within the human body, using the completed reference image for support when needed.
